Unemployment Benefit
Unemployment support is for the Emirates who have lost their jobs in the private sector or in one of the establishments licensed by the Central Bank, for reasons beyond their control and who have no source of income.
The temporary financial assistance is paid as follows:
- (7,000) dirhams per month for Emiratis who lost their job
- (4,500) dirhams per month for the husband or wife (if he/she does not work)
- (2,400) dirhams per month for the first and second child, and (1,600) dirhams per month for the third child, with a maximum of three children.
The maximum benefit from the period of the temporary support program is (12) months, provided that the period of benefit does not exceed (6) consecutive months.
The person who is entitled to the assistance must look for work within the specified period with the help of the dedicated authorities. If the person who is entitled to assistance refuses to take up the job that has been provided to him, his right to this assistance is forfeited.
Eligibility Criteria
- The support is granted to an Emirati National who loses their job at an establishment covered by the benefits program due to circumstances beyond their control, with ETCC having the discretion to determine the nature of these circumstances.
- The applicant must be legally competent to work.
- The applicant must not be a student enrolled in a formal educational institution.
- The applicant's income must not exceed the value of the allowance.
- If the applicant has no income, they will receive the full allowance. If they do have income, the allowance will be reduced by that amount.The applicant's income is calculated from commercial licenses and real estate revenues.

- The applicant must be between 18 and 60 years of age, not eligible for retirement, and not enrolled in the National Service Program.
- The applicant must not have lost their job for ethical reasons or as a result of violating applicable laws in the country.
- If the applicant, their spouse, or one of their children is a beneficiary of any other social assistance program, and the value of the benefit is less than the value of the allowance, the allowance will be reduced by the value of the benefit.
- The allowance allocated for children will not be disbursed twice.
- Unemployment insurance contributions are not included in the calculation of the benefit.
- The allowance will be paid to sons until they reach the age of 21 or begin working, and to daughters until they marry or begin working.
